Appointed auditors

The Audit Commission appoints auditors to councils, NHS bodies (excluding NHS Foundation trusts), police bodies and other local public services in England. All appointed auditors are private firms selected following a rigorous assessment process, to secure high quality, cost effective audit services.

Directory of auditor appointments to small bodies in England

Includes local councils (parish and town councils, and parish meetings), internal drainage boards (IDBs) and joint committees

The Audit Commission also appoints auditors to around 10,000 small bodies. Small bodies are those with annual income or expenditure, whichever is the greater, of £6.5 million or less.
