Audit Practice annual quality report

Transparency Report 2011: Audit Practice

'Transparency Report 2011: Audit Practice' puts into the public domain information about the results of our internal quality monitoring programme and of quality reviews of our work by external inspectors. We believe that publishing these reports serves to:

  • demonstrate our unequivocal commitment to delivering audit quality;
  • provide assurance to clients and key external stakeholders about both the arrangements we have put in place to ensure audit quality and the underlying strength of the Audit Practice; and
  • enable them to compare our audit practice with other auditors.

The arrangements described in this report are reviewed annually by the Audit Commission's Audit Policy and Regulation Directorate, and on its behalf by the independent Audit Inspection Unit. The Audit Inspection Unit's review of our 2010/11 audits was their fourth annual review of our work.

Over that time, we have used the review process to drive continuous improvement in our management of quality. The overriding message from the report evidenced by our own monitoring and others' review is that the quality of our work stands up to scrutiny and continues to improve.
