This has helped to achieve high levels of performance at a comparatively low cost. Kent Fire and Rescue Service achieved challenging efficiency targets in 2008. The service avoids unnecessary spending. Robust monitoring procedures ensure that achievement of efficiency targets has become integrated with routine service planning and delivery.
