Clinical coding leaflet

Background

One of the main requirements to support accurate clinical coded data is for the clinical notes to be clear, concise and contain all the relevant information needed by the coding department. Addressing this is a big task and achieving it even bigger. At Tameside Hospitals the coding manager has produced a leaflet which every junior doctor receives at their induction alongside a talk on clinical coding.

Objective

To raise the profile of clinical coding, and to ensure that every doctor at the Trust understands the requirements of the coding department and the need for good quality data.

Outline

The clinical coding manger has created a leaflet to use as a visual tool to educate the junior doctors about clinical coding and the need for good quality data. Every junior doctor receives this leaflet at the induction alongside a talk on clinical coding.

Impact

Intended impact

To be a visual aid to go with the talk given to the junior doctors at their Trust induction and used as a tool to raise the profile of clinical coding.
