The voices of Arun's young people (aged between 11 and 20 years) are strongly represented by the Youth Council, who are actively involved with the full spectrum of local political life. The Youth Council played an active role working with the Council during the recent development of its new corporate priorities. Arun Youth Conference in 2008 produced 'every young person in Arun matters' which sets out the contribution that Council services make (including housing, planning and benefits) to improve the lives of young people as well as the contribution that the young people felt they make. Arun priorities 2009 to 2013 took account of the recommendations from the Youth Council and reflected these in the development of the revised sustainable community strategy.
