The benefits service provided by Copeland Borough Council is fair, with uncertain prospects for improvement.

The time taken to process claims continues to improve and residents receive an accessible and customer friendly service. Fraudulent claims are tackled effectively. But appeals need to be dealt with more quickly and more needs to be done to ensure that all people entitled to claim Housing and Council Tax benefit are claiming it.
