The benefits service provided by Waveney District Council is ‘fair’ but has ‘uncertain prospects’ for improvement’.
It has improved from a poor base and is beginning to respond to what customers need. The Council is dealing with claims more quickly, which is helping those most in need during the recession as well as reducing fraud and error. However, access to the benefits service can be difficult for some and customers do not know what level of service they can expect when contacting the service.
