The overarching principles of comprehensive area assessment (CAA) outlined in the framework are exactly the same as those outlined in the summer consultation. Through CAA, inspectorates will jointly focus on an area, and look at how local services are working together to improve future outcomes for local people.
There are two key aspects of CAA. These are area assessments, and organisational assessments, both informed by the National Indicator Set and other available evidence. But the new framework has developed further and taken account of consultation feedback and learning from the trials. We have strengthened the focus on some aspects and provided more detail on others.
