One of the aims of the school survey is for participating council areas to use the responses from their schools as a tool for improvement. To this end, we have created an online guide to the councils given the highest ratings by their schools for each question in the survey, which should help to identify areas of good practice across England and Wales.
From this page you can choose the question for which you would like to generate a list of the councils which were given the top 25 per cent ratings. Once you submit your choice of question, a link to download the relevant chart file will appear below. The file will contain contact details for each of the top-rated council areas for that question.
Note that previous years' information (2003-2007) is also available from the links below. Prior to 2006, the information was based on the top ten - it was expanded for 2006 to cover the top 25 per cent at the request of councils.
The survey has changed over time and there may be variations between the survey for England and Wales - please see the notes within each summary spreadsheet for further information.
