Proactive work with schools in the Isle of Wight
The Isle of Wight Council found that schools were willing to host community events to raise awareness of benefits and other council services.
Working in partnership with the Council's children’s services, selected schools were asked to host events. Letters were sent to all parents inviting them to attend evening events and parents from surrounding schools were also invited.
Marketed as an opportunity to learn more about the benefits service in general, and how forthcoming changes might affect local families, the events were well-attended.
