Religion

What does religion cover?

It covers a group of people defined by reference to religious belief or lack of religious belief. It also includes people who hold no religious beliefs at all. The aim is to ensure that people have equal access to the provision of goods, facilities and services irrespective of their religious beliefs, or lack of beliefs, and that they do not suffer discrimination on religious or faith grounds.

Part 2 of the Equality Act 2006: Discrimination on Grounds of Religion or Belief came into force on 30 April 2007. Provisions of the Act make discrimination in the area of goods, facilities and services on grounds of religion or belief unlawful.
