What does sexual orientation cover?
The aim is to ensure that lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people have equal access to the provision of goods, facilities and services, and that they do not suffer discrimination because of their sexual orientation. It is also about ensuring that LGBT staff are treated fairly and equally, and are supported. LGBT people share common needs and aspirations with other people, as well as having specific needs. For example, young LGBT people can find themselves being made homeless or experience bullying and harassment at school because of their sexual orientation.
