Local government – data requirements
The data requirements for the 2012/13 NFI exercise are set out in the table below - ‘Data requirements England - local government participants’. There are a number of points to note in relation to this exercise:
- A number of the data sets are classified as core (mandatory)
- The requirements of the code of data matching practice 2008 in relation to fair processing notices should be adhered to. Liaise with your own Data Protection Officer or person with equivalent responsibility, if you require any clarification
- The data submission section provides details on how to upload data securely. This is the only acceptable method
- As in previous exercises, wherever possible data will be collected in bulk on behalf of participants. For example, in England, data relating to housing benefit and students eligible for a loan will be collected from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) and Student Loan Company (SLC) respectively
- Providers of insurance services to Local Authorities are also being approached to provide insurance data on behalf of local authorities and an update on this will be provided well in advance of the data submission deadline
