NFI is already the UKs premier public sector fraud detection tool and it also offers the mortality screening service to all private sector pension schemes. NFI has undertaken data matching for pension schemes since 1998. Our mortality screening service offers unrivalled value for money to help schemes identify where they may be making payments to deceased pensioners or where deferred pensioners have died.

It is the most cost effective way of identifying your pensioners that are deceased, and uses advanced data matching techniques which can replace the time and expense of sending life certification forms to verify pensioners existence.

The largest schemes have identified hundreds of cases of fraudulent overpayments, some of which run into tens of thousands of pounds. Many of these cases had been running for years and overpayments could have continued to accumulate had they not been highlighted by NFI.

A unique feature of NFI is that it can identify deaths of UK citizens abroad as well as deaths in the UK.

Case study - Invensys pensions

As a result of participating in NFI the technology company Invensys was able to identify 63 instances where it had not been informed of a pensioner’s death and had continued to pay the pension. Overpayments of pensions total nearly £64,000.
