Protecting the public purse

Services

The National Fraud Initiative (NFI) offers a number of different services that are available to all types of private sector organisations.

Electronic annual return

Payroll screening

Employers have a legal responsibility to check that they do not employ illegal workers. Under the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006, you could be liable for a fine of up to £10,000 per illegal worker.

Mortality screening

Pension schemes continue to pay out significant amounts to deceased pensioners each year. Mortality screening highlights deceased pensioners to help you prevent and recover these overpayments.

nfi-private-services-real-time

Real time data matching

The Commission’s National Fraud Initiative real time data matching service helps to prevent fraudulent bank and credit applications by immigration offenders.

Picture of houses

Housing tenant screening

Feedback from the National Housing Federation suggests that the number of unlawfully sublet social homes could range from 1 in 100 to as high as 1 in 20 in some inner city hotspots.

nfi-private-services-creditors

Creditors screening

NFI provides creditor payment screening using a range of tests to identify duplicate payments. Aside from the financial benefits, data screening helps to improve the efficiency with which organisations maintain their creditor payment systems.

nfi-organisation-bespoke

Bespoke screening

At the National Fraud Initiative we appreciate that organisations hold a number of different data sets and we are happy to discuss any bespoke data screening you feel may address a particular fraud risk to your organisation.
