Flexible and real time matching
The inexpensive tool to meet your fraud prevention and detection data matching needs
The Audit Commission’s National Fraud Initiative (NFI) already plays an important role in protecting the public purse against fraud. The NFI can now do even more through our new flexible data matching service aimed at preventing as well as detecting fraud.
The service:
- is dynamic and responsive to your operational needs and organisational risks allowing you to decide locally how often you re-perform matching;
- will help prevent and detect fraud either in your organisation or across multiple organisations that choose to come together as part of a data matching syndicate;
- uses the tried and tested NFI techniques to generate and make available high-quality data matches immediately;
- is provided on the same secure NFI web based application as the main NFI; and
- is undertaken using existing statutory data matching powers under Part IIA of the Audit Commission Act 1998 and is compliant with the Code of Data Matching Practice.
Phase 1
Phase one of the flexible matching service allows you to re-perform any of the existing NFI data matching at a time that suits you. It allows you to upload your organisation’s datasets for internal matching.
Subscribers to the service also have the option of paying an additional fee to undertake mortality screening to both the Department for Works and Pensions (DWP) deceased records and the Disclosure of Death Registration Information (DDRI) deceased persons’ records. See the Flexible mortality screening web page for the latest opportunities to undertake mortality screening. Our practical examples provide ideas of how the service can be used.
Phase 2
Phase two of the flexible matching service roll out will mean that by 2013 more data will be available for matching against such as:
- Key NFI datasets collected for the 2012/13 two yearly exercise; and
- UK Border Agency immigration data, Student loan data and the Metropolitan Police’s Amberhill data, refreshed periodically.
Fees
The flexible matching service is an inexpensive solution at just £300 per dataset for the first 20 files submitted over the NFI’s two year cycle. This cost falls to £250 per dataset when more than 20 files are submitted. The fees for mortality screening pension fund records start at as little as £350.
