Ward staffing costs - March 2009

Hospital nursing is a very important and costly resource. We present evidence from our local benchmarking of ward staffing which indicates a two-fold variation in staffing levels between similar types of ward, yet remarkably little difference in unit costs attributable to the particular type of ward.
