The Joint Review Team was established in 1996 to bring together the skills and expertise of the Audit Commission and the Social Services Inspectorate (SSI) to review local authority social services.
This fifth overview report of the Joint Review Team has been entitled Delivering Results, for that is now the call to public services. The shape of the agenda has been set; the plans for the next decade have been written; now is the time to start showing the results of all the good intent. To assist with this task, the Report tackles the main issues that are challenging social services and hopes to offer advice on how they can be faced. The Report draws on the findings of Joint Reviews in England and Wales, focusing predominantly on reviews conducted in the last year but also commenting on progress since 1996. It shares the Joint Review Team's analysis and learning with the aim of supporting councils in the challenges they face.
The Report is written primarily to inform councillors and managers of social care services. It will, however, be relevant to those working in related areas and interested members of the community.
Included in this report:
- setting the scene
- reviewed councils and judgements, 2000/01
- familiar problems, new solutions
- challenges for joint reviews
