Case studies

The efficiency study into administration costs of revenues and benefits has identified some important issues. The way councils deliver the service varies considerably across the country. Our study has therefore used a series of case studies to high-light some of the different ways of working. We recognise that there is no 'one size fits all' solution. The examples we have identified illustrate how some councils have changed the way they are delivering the service to improve efficiency.

The case studies are supplemented with information supplied by the councils where this is available. Contacts at the councils and/or links to the websites are included with the examples. Additional case studies have been added that are not featured in the report in order to provide other approaches to improving efficiency.
