The income collection study has identified some important issues. The way councils approach efficient collection varies considerably across the country. Our study has therefore used a series of case studies to high-light some of the different ways of working. We recognise that there is no 'one size fits all' solution, and that local factors will always be important. However, some councils are challenging some of the pre-conceived ideas - particularly around deprivation. We have used the case studies to illustrate how some councils have changed the way they are using DD to improve efficiency, and free-up resources to do other things.
We have supplemented the case studies with information supplied by the councils where this is available. Contacts at the councils and/or links to the websites are included with the examples. Additional case studies will be added that are not featured in the report in order as we identify other ways to improve efficiency in collection.
Below is a list of all case studies used in this tool.
