The Audit Commission has developed and used performance information for local public services for two decades. Over that time we have learned a great deal about the choice, specification, interpretation, and scrutiny of performance information.

The Performance Information web pages bring the knowledge and learning from our work in performance information together in one place. The material includes:

• detailed information for performance indicator collections up to and including the National Indicator Set (NIS);
• links to current tools such as the Value for Money profiles tool for local government and fire and rescue authorities;
• examples and guidance for effective analysis and presentation of data; and
• a wide range of publications and other resources to support and encourage better use of information.
