Released
16 September 2010
As the Audit Commission adjusts its staffing and functions in light of its impending abolition, David Walker is stepping down as Managing Director, Communications and Public Reporting.
Walker, formerly editor of the Guardian’s Public magazine, will leave next month.
He said: ‘We have streamlined communications management and I am confident the vital work of informing staff and getting messages out to clients and the public will be well done in the months remaining before the Commission goes’.
David said he was looking forward to making a contribution to debate about public services, drawing on what he called his ‘tremendous’ experience at the Commission, which he joined in October 2008.
Eugene Sullivan, Chief Executive, said: ‘David’s departure marks a new phase in the wind down.
‘The Commission has benefited from his professional expertise and is grateful for the way he has reshaped our communications capacity to meet changing circumstances.’
